WHEN THE CACTUS PLANT BEARS FLOWERS

The Chinese believe that when a cactus plant growing in ones home starts to bear flowers then it is auspicious sign. The blooming of the cactus flower symbolises that good luck will be upon the owner or occupants of the home. Usually the good luck or good news comes immediately after the flower blooms.

In the above picture, you see a pot of cactus belonging to my mum. The flower is in full bloom today.

Unfortunately, it will only bloom for a day. Nevertheless, I see a few more buds coming out from the cactus.

BILA POKOK KAKTUS BERBUNGA
Golongan Cina percayai bahawa adalah bertuah atau 'ong' bila pokok kaktus berbunga.  Bila kaktus berbunga ini bermaksud tuan rumah dan penghuni-penghuni akan bernasib baik.  Biasanya tuah itu akan datang sebaik sahaja kaktus berbunga.
Saya memegang satu pasu pokok kepunyaan ibu saya yang sedang berbunga.  Malangnya, bunga ini akan hidup selama satu hari sahaja.  Tetapi nampaknya ada bunga-bunga lain yang akan kembang tidak lama lagi.

PEACOCK PLANT

When my mum first saw this plant at the nursery, she was captivated by the beautiful leaves which resembled that of the peacock's feather. Of course, she bought it and this is how the plant looks after some time in her care. It has grown even more exquisite and beautiful. Look at how the patterns on the leaves are so prominent.

Description: Broad leaf blades are about eight inches (20cm) long and very dark in color with a narrow grey-green jagged line some distance in from the leaf margin.

Ibu saya tertarik dengan daun pokok ini yang bercorak macam bulu burung merak, pertama kali beliau nampaknya di nursery.  Semestinya, ibu saya beli pokok ini dan beginilah rupa Pokok Peacock dibawah jagaannya.
