Pokok halban boleh ditemui tumbuh liar di kawasan kampung, di tepi sungai dan di hutan. Pokok halban sederhana hingga besar, mencapai 25 m tingginya. Kulit batangnya berwarna kuning kelabu. Kulit batang pokok tua merekah dan berkeping-keping nipis. Terdapat beberapa jenis pokok halban, contohnya halban putih dan halban kuning.
Kegunaan
Daun halban digunakan untuk mengubati luka dan demam. Bagi mengubati luka, daun diramas di tapak tangan dan disapu pada luka. Untuk mengubati demam, daun ditumbuk dan dituam pada kepala dan badan.
Akar pokok halban digunakan sebagai ramuan selepas bersalin, sakit badan, menguatkan tenaga zahir dan batin, juga untuk mengawet muda. Manakala daun dan kulit pokok berperanan untuk memulihkan kesihatan ibu lepas bersalin. Daunnya direbus dan didmakan sebagai ulam untuk membuang angin dari dalam tubuh badan. Halban can be found growing wild in the kampung, the river banks and in the jungle. The average or fully grown halban tree can reach a height of 25m. The bark of the tree is yellowish-grey. There are a few types of halban, example white halban and yellow halban.
USES
Halban leaves are used to treat wounds and fever. To treat wounds, the leaf is crushed in the palm and applied to the wound. To treat fever, the leaf is pounded and applied to the head and body.
The root of the plant is one of the ingredients used for ladies in confinement, body aches and for physical and spiritual uplifting. It is also said to help maintain youthfulness. The bark and leaves of the tree are believed to play a part in aiding ladies in confinement to regain their health. The leaves are boiled and eaten as ulam to help rid the body of wind.
